What cookies and local storage are
- Cookies are small text files that a website or a third-party service stores in your browser. The browser sends them back with later requests.
- Local storage is storage in your browser that only our website's code reads. Data in it is not sent to the server automatically.
Storing information on your device is governed by Section 109(8) of Act No. 452/2021 Coll. on Electronic Communications. Where personal data is involved, the GDPR and Act No. 18/2018 Coll. also apply.
Necessary items (always active)
Without them, the website would not work as intended or would not remember your cookie choice. We store them without consent.
Local storage:
cookie-consent.v1: your choice of cookie categories (necessary, functional, analytics, marketing). Duration: until you delete it in your browser.cookie_consent: the same choice in the format used by Google Consent Mode, so that Google tools follow your decision. Duration: until you delete it in your browser.cookie_consent_timestamp: the date and time of your choice. After 12 months we ask you again. Duration: until you delete it in your browser.stafeta-theme: the website's appearance setting. The website currently has a fixed light appearance, so this item is usually not created. Duration: until you delete it in your browser.
Cookies:
NEXT_LOCALE: remembers the language version of the website (Slovak or English). It is set only if the selected language version does not match your browser's language. Duration: until you close the browser.
The website does not set any login or tracking cookies of its own.
Functional items
The "Functional" category in the cookie settings is prepared for remembering preferences. At present we do not store any items in it other than those listed above.
Analytics cookies (only with consent)
They help us understand how many people visit the website and which pages they read. The website is prepared for Google Analytics 4, which runs via Google Tag Manager. These tools only work if they are enabled, and they store cookies only after your consent.

How consent works with Google tools
If Google Tag Manager is enabled, its script loads when the page opens. Before you decide, however, all analytics and advertising storage is denied in Google Consent Mode v2, so Google does not store cookies. After your consent, only the categories you have chosen are allowed. Without consent, Google tools may, depending on their configuration, send limited signals without cookies and may pass information about an ad click in the page address instead of cookies. Meta Pixel does not load at all without consent to marketing cookies.
How to change or withdraw consent
On your first visit, a bar appears where you can accept all cookies, reject optional ones or set the categories yourself. You can change or withdraw your decision at any time as easily as you gave it:
You can also delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
Recipients and transfers outside the EU
Analytics and marketing cookies are processed by Google Ireland Limited and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. Their parent companies and subcontractors may process data in the USA. Such transfers rely on safeguards under Art. 44 to 49 GDPR, in particular the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
